Resident Evil Town

This last weekend Seth and I were lucky enough to make it to two movies. I don't have a lot of time, but I will give a brief summary of both:

RESIDENT EVIL 3D: AFTERLIFE
It's a little bit hard to rate a movie like this, mostly because I really have nothing to compare it to except the previous two movies. So, when I say I enjoyed watching it, know that I am not comparing it to Scorsese or Shakespeare. For what it was, it was very entertaining. I would give it 3/4 stars.

THE TOWN
This is Ben Affleck's second movie as a director, and he stars in it as well. I have never been a huge Ben Affleck fan, although I have never hated him either. So, I was a little skeptical going into this, as I knew he was playing the main character. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The movie as a whole was great! It was very tight, no unnecessary bits, everything moved the plot forward. Ben Affleck acted really well & I also loved the rest of the cast. So basically, I really, really liked the movie. I'm not sure I would say I loved it, but I am still giving it a 4/4 stars.

House Hunting

This has absolutely nothing to do with movies...

This is mostly for Mairi and Heather. I just wanted to show you guys the house Seth and I are thinking about buying. It was built in the 40's (even though I think it looks rather deco). I'm going to be going through it with my realtor and Dean Morgan to make sure there aren't any huge problems. Anyway, hope you like it!!! We do! Let me know what you think.

The Book of Eli

This movie got mediocre reviews at best, so I went into it with low expectations. Well, that must have done the trick, because I actually liked it quite a bit. It was, perhaps, a little slow moving. And post-apocalyptic movies aren't exactly ideal for re-watching purposes. But, I honestly thought it was pretty awesome. I would give it 3.5/4 stars.

The Ghost Writer

Well, I know there is a lot of contraversy about this movie, as it was directed by Roman Polanski (aka The Child Molester who got away scott free, and was subsequently rewarded by getting to live in France for the rest of his life). Before I review the actual movie, I wanted to talk about this a little bit.

First of all, I know a lot of people did and will refuse to "support" this movie because of it's director. I thought a lot about this, as I really didn't have a problem watching this movie. I don't know if this is wrong or right, but I personally believe something like a movie, music, or just art in general are made for the audience, and in the end end up having little to do with those who produced it. I'm not saying that credit shouldn't be given, because it definitely should. I'm just saying that while I am watching a good movie, or listening to a great song, it's a very personal experience, and I rarely think about the person(s) who made it. (*note: this is different if the movie is terrible, as all I can do in that circumstance is blame the director over and over again for their stupidness.)

Anyway, enough of my musings. As far as the movie goes, I liked it quite a bit! It reminded me a lot of old Hitchcock movies and there was even some film Noir thrown in. For the most part the acting was good with a huge exception to whats-her-Sex in the City (is it Kim Kattrall?). Her english accent was terrible! I don't know how all of the other legit-Brits were able to keep a straight face when they were acting with her. But otherwise, I completely enjoyed it! Highly recommended!

As far as the star-rating system goes, I would give it a 3.5/4 stars.

The first post I will ever make...

Hello to basically myself, as I am assuming I will be the only one to read this. I have been wanting to start a blog in order to mostly keep track of the new movies I see and give them a rating. (New, as in: movie's I have never seen before.)

Also, I am sick of posting loads of pictures and personal stuff onto facebook, and I would rather have an outlet like this that my family and friends can check at their leisure without being "tagged."

Anyway, that's all for now. We'll see if this even works out. :)
