The Ghost Writer

Well, I know there is a lot of contraversy about this movie, as it was directed by Roman Polanski (aka The Child Molester who got away scott free, and was subsequently rewarded by getting to live in France for the rest of his life). Before I review the actual movie, I wanted to talk about this a little bit.

First of all, I know a lot of people did and will refuse to "support" this movie because of it's director. I thought a lot about this, as I really didn't have a problem watching this movie. I don't know if this is wrong or right, but I personally believe something like a movie, music, or just art in general are made for the audience, and in the end end up having little to do with those who produced it. I'm not saying that credit shouldn't be given, because it definitely should. I'm just saying that while I am watching a good movie, or listening to a great song, it's a very personal experience, and I rarely think about the person(s) who made it. (*note: this is different if the movie is terrible, as all I can do in that circumstance is blame the director over and over again for their stupidness.)

Anyway, enough of my musings. As far as the movie goes, I liked it quite a bit! It reminded me a lot of old Hitchcock movies and there was even some film Noir thrown in. For the most part the acting was good with a huge exception to whats-her-Sex in the City (is it Kim Kattrall?). Her english accent was terrible! I don't know how all of the other legit-Brits were able to keep a straight face when they were acting with her. But otherwise, I completely enjoyed it! Highly recommended!

As far as the star-rating system goes, I would give it a 3.5/4 stars.
